SCD Board Staff

   Board of Directors
Soil Conservation Districts are local units of government responsible for the soil and water conservation work within their boundaries. The district's role is to increase voluntary conservation practices among farmers, ranchers and other land users. The SCD is governed by an elected board.
 
Larry Dickey Larry Dickey, Board Chairman
Larry currently serves as Vice-Chairman of the Board. He was elected in March of 2006 by the farmers of Giles County. He is a native of Giles County and still resides on the farm in the Campbellsville area where he grew up. Larry is responsible for outside sales through the Giles County Cooperative. He is a member of the local Quail Forever Milky Way Chapter and an avid supporter of Wildlife.
  
 

 Ben Jackson, Board Secretary/Treasurer

Ben was elected by the farmers of Giles County in 2019. He currently works in the position of Branch Manager at the Bank of Frankewing in Pulaski. Ben was born and raised in Pulaski, with hunting and fishing as important hobbies growing up.  He continues to be an dedicated outdoorsman, interested in wildlife conservation evidenced by his memberships in the local Quail Forever Milky Way Chapter and Ducks Unlimited. 

 

 
 Chris Edgmon, Board Supervisor
Chris was appointed to the Giles County SCD board by the Tennessee Department of Agriculture (TDA) in April of 2015.  Chris and his family live in the Prospect area of Giles County. They row crop as well as raise Angus cattle at Willow Oaks Farm.  Chris served for nine years on the FSA Giles County Committee. Chris is also one of the founding partners in Seven Fifty Seven meats.
 
 
  James McCormack, Board Supervisor
James McCormack was elected to the board in 2019 by the farmers of Giles County. He is a full time young farmer and grows approximately 2,500 acres of corn, soybeans, and wheat annually. James and his family live in northern Giles County. James is an active member of United Church in Lawrenceburg.
 
 
 
Russ Underwood, Board Supervisor
Russ was appointed to the board in Spring of 2020 by the Tennessee Department of Agriculture (TDA). Russ and his family reside in Lynnville.

Soil Conservation District Staff

 

       SCD staff members are available to assist landowners with programs available through partner organizations.

 
 
  Denise Little, Office Administrator
Denise has been employed with the district since February 2021.  She was previously employed with the Maury County SCD since 2017. Her responsibilities include:  assist walk-in customers, provide technical assistance for clients, assisting the NRCS District Conservationist and NRCS Soil Conservationist with conservation planning and contracting, coordinates the 319 Blue Creek Watershed Project.
 
 
 
 neil      Neil Newton, District Technician

Neil has been working with the district since March 2017. He is a native of Giles County and previously worked as an educator with the Giles County School System for 15 years. His responsibilities include: working with NRCS District Conservationist and NRCS Soil Conservationist with conservation planning and contracting. He is proud to be involved in helping the people, especially the farmers, of his home county.

Farms Service Agency (FSA)

 
 
FSA in Tennessee administers farms loans, farm programs, conservation and stewardship incentives, disaster assistance and food aid across the country and around the world.

  Andrea Stafford, Program Technician
Andrea has worked for FSA since June of 2003. She has lived in Giles County all her life and attended Martin Methodist College where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. She currently handles Payment Limitation/Eligibility, Compliance, Tobacco, Farm Records, Price Support, Administrative, and Farm Storage Facility Loans.

 

  Tori McWilliams, Program Technician

Tori has worked for FSA Since January 2021. She previously worked with the Giles County Soil Conservation District since 2015. She presides in the Campbellsville community with her husband and son. Tori currently handles Non-Insured Assistance Program (NAP).

Natural Resources Conservation Services (NRCS)

 
NRCS is an agency of the United States Department of Agriculture. NRCS staff is available in all 95 Tennessee counties to provide assistance to landowners through cost share programs that promote conservation of our natural resources.
 
 
    Chip Rose, District Conservationist

Chip was previously employed with the Giles County Soil Conservation District as a District Technician for 7.5 years. As of October 2015 he has been assigned to the Centerville NRCS staff as a Soil Conservationist. In that position he will be covering multiple counties including Hickman, Perry, Lewis, Lawrence, and Giles. He has been a resident of Giles County all his life; with the exception of the time he spent in Martin, TN where he received a B.S. degree in Natural Resources Management with a concentration in Wildlife Biology from the University of Tennessee at Martin.
